Where is the Baviaanskloof?

E-mail Print PDF

The Baviaanskloof Nature Reserve lies roughly 120km west of Port Elizabeth.

Access into the Baviaanskloof from Port Elizabeth is along the R331 through Hankey and Patensie.

Approaching from the west the route is through Willowmore and then along the R332.

The recommended route to Geelhoutbos is via Willowmore.

From Port Elizabeth the route would be via Steytlerville to Willowmore, or, alternatively via Kareedouw, Avontuur and Uniondale to Willowmore.

The approach from the north would be along the N9 via Graaff Reinet to Willowmore; while from the west (Cape Town) the route could be either through Oudtshoorn or through George, then north on the N9 to Willowmore.

From Willowmore take the R332 to Nuwekloofpas, Rietrivier, Studtis and Sandvlakte to Geelhoutbos.

See here for accommodation.
