Unique Award for 'Legends'

It has become practice at some events to recognize participants who complete a given number of the events. Probably the best known in South Africa are the Comrades ‘Green number', the Two Oceans ‘Blue number' (although some of us older runners still have a treasured ‘Silver number') and the Rhodes Trail Run ‘Snowflake number'.

At each of these events a runner receives a number ‘in perpetuity', recording his achievements in the annals of the event.

On race day the runner is also identified through a colour coded event number, which is how some events, such as the Cape Argus Cycle Tour, recognize their multiple finisher's.

Those who ran the Liberty Health Baviaanskloof Trail Run last year would have noticed that the event ‘number' used their first name, rather than a number.

It will be practice at the Baviaanskloof run that race ‘numbers' will not be used. However the organisers will recognize runners who complete multiple Baviaanskloof runs.

On completion of three Liberty Health Baviaanskloof Trail Runs the runner will be recognised as a 'Legend of the Baviaanskloof' and will receive a very special, significant and unique memento of the achievement. The award is  visually appropriate and full details will be released before entries open for the 2010 event.
